Who is Kas…
Born and raised in Texas, Kasaundra — Kas Kreatess — Owens has always believed that art is a living thing. It breathes through her poetry, moves through her murals, and speaks through every story she writes or performs. Her voice has carried her onto national stages, earning her recognition as a national award‑winning spoken word artist and a top‑ranked competitor at the 2023 Women of the World Poetry Slam, where she placed #38 internationally.
Kasaundra is a six‑time published author, a passionate public speaker, and a creative writing instructor who teaches others to trust the power of their own narratives. As a visual artist and muralist, she transforms walls into testimonies—vibrant reflections of culture, resilience, and community.
Her artistry extends into film and theater, with an IMDb credit for the 2024 independent film Never the Same, My King Looks Like Me and poetic contributions to the stage play “Who Killed Jabori”.
Beyond her creative work, Kasaundra has long been a force for community empowerment. She served as the Head Chair for the Central Texas Pride Community in Killeen and continues to uplift Black creatives as the Poetic Director for Melanin Behind the Lens.
Kas Kreatess is more than an artist—she is a storyteller, a builder of safe spaces, and a creator committed to amplifying voices that deserve to be heard.
